Shoulder Pain Treatment in New Jersey
Most shoulder problems involve tendon inflammation or tears, instability, arthritis or a fracture. Learn how the shoulder works and how we help.
Your shoulder is made up of three bones: the upper arm bone (humerus), the shoulder blade (scapula) and the collarbone (clavicle). The head of the upper arm bone fits into a rounded socket in the shoulder blade called the glenoid. A group of muscles and tendons, the rotator cuff, keeps the arm bone centered in the socket.
Common categories of shoulder problems
- Tendon inflammation (bursitis or tendinitis) or a tendon tear
- Instability
- Arthritis
- Fracture (broken bone)
Much less often, shoulder pain is caused by infection or nerve-related problems.
